Join our vibrant Chapter the fight for higher education!
Our members know that this organization brings together diverse faculty. We can’t wait to get to know you and your unique talents and skills.
Join the National AAUP and you will automatically be added to our Chapter roster. (Our leadership team receives a new roster every Monday)
After joining, you’ll be added to the chapter Google Group and Signal Chat, where you can easily collaborate with our growing membership.
Who can join?
We aim to be an inclusive organization. No matter your faculty or teaching position, we want you to know you are welcome in the AAUP.
There are two membership categories: Members and Associates
- Members: Any person who holds a professional position of teacher or researcher, or other professional appointment, at Stanford University is eligible for membership in the chapter. Persons with eligible titles include, but are not necessarily limited to, Tenure Line, Non-Tenure Line, and University Medical Line faculty, as well as Academic Staff, including Academic Staff-Teaching (AST) and Other Teaching Staff (OTS) members. All Members of the chapter may vote in chapter matters. Retired Members retain all rights and privileges accorded to non-retired Members, including the right to hold office.
- Associates: Any person who is not eligible for active membership but holds a position that advances the teaching and research mission of Stanford University is eligible for Associate status in the chapter. Associate Members may participate in all chapter activities, but are not eligible to vote on chapter matters. Members who hold an administrative appointment above that of Department Chair, or its equivalent, will automatically assume Associate Member status, rather than Member status, throughout the period they hold such an administrative position.
